Agriculture – A major factor in economic growth

Agriculture has undergone a sustained development under the impetus of the positive consequences of the agrarian reform in 1921. Industrial development between 1934-1938 made Romania in 1938 cover its industrial production needs in the proportion of 80% of its own production. Agriculture occupies an important place in the economy and in our country’s policy. It is an important sector in the national economy, and a basic component of the economic, political and social strategy of any country, due to its contribution to welfare and social balance. In our country, agriculture is one of the most important resources of development. The most important objectives and priorities are to increase production and agricultural productivity in order to create an open market and competitive as well. It also has an important role in the structure of the national economy, by contributing to the gross domestic product(GDP). Depreciation of the technical base, investment stagnation, asset losses (irrigation systems, plantations, machinery) as well as mistakes in the management of state-owned assets and in supporting the process of developing private commercial agriculture. These are the main causes that have led to a reduction in the contribution of agriculture to GDP .
Furthernore, the aim of this article is to reveal the important objectives and priorities for increasing agricultural productivity and its effect on the growth of the national economy.
